Another Journey has begun: Alaska & Canada

8 10 2009

i set out for Alaska again and as I type this I am in Juneau. I love Alaska. I would move here! Seriously, its beautiful not to mention the coldness I LOVE! lol….I left home around 1am North on the PCH. Through North Cali and into Oregon and Washington. Ended the long day in Vancouver British Colombia.

I took just about the same routes with the exception of a few scenic routes lol. Stopped in Ketchikan for a food break and wow I found Burger Queen! lol…Not Burger King but Burger Queen! A small shack with decent hamburgers!! lol… No scary bears this time to make me shit my pants while snacking lol. In case you dont know what the fuck i am talking about; well on my last voyage to Alaska just outside Ketchikan I stopped for a tuna fish break and what the hell a damn bear came out and went straight for me! I had to start the bike up and go open throttle to get the fuck out of dodge! lol.

So I made my way out of Ketchikan and straight up to Juneau. I love that stretch. Quiet and full of beauty. I managed to catch a beautiful sunset shot near Juneau. If you never have been to Alaska and you enjoy the great outdoors then I suggest you take a trip to Alaska. You wont regret it! Its beautiful. I love wildlife and although they are killers I love bears. I hope to get some great shots of some bears in their natural habitat on this trip. So far i have not come across any but I got my camera ready!

Earlier I was at Mendenhall Glacier. I think I spelled that wrong. lol….It is a nice place. Douglas Island is full of great nature shots. I took plenty. About 200 total. A lil less but on the average. So this trip is far from over. Much more to write about and pics to take.

I cant wait for next week and the ride into my long awaited goal to reach the Arctic Circle. An accomplishment I am sure will be a life long dream to remember for me. I am ready. It is going to be super cold but I love cold and I am prepared for whatever mother nature throws my way. Wish me luck on my journey!!

Yellowstone NP Update

28 04 2009

So this morning around 9:30 I went to Old Faithful and yes it has been snowing. It was cold this morning. Right now it is snowing and its about 33 degrees out now. When I got to the Old Faithful site there was no one there then suddenly after I snapped about 6 pics fucking people from everywhere just came like bats out of hell! Geez! Whats funny is that they missed the actual geyser eruption and just came in time to see the steam…Dorks! Gotta be on your toes man!

So I hear that there is actually another geyser here that is bigger but doesnt erupt on a scheduled interval. Whoa! The lake is awesome. Went out that way and whoa! So dont bears hibernate around this time or no? I guess im an idiot but I saw one! Huge mother fucker!!! It was well away from me though. There is still so much to see. I took pics of Old Faithful and the Yellowstone River. Few of the lake as well. When I am in nature as much as I love to capture some images I love to just enjoy the views.

Tomorrow I am looking to hit up Tower Falls and Canyon areas. Im sure it will be snow filled up there. I guess I will play it by ear tomorrow and see whats up. The weather calls for more snow. Earlier this afternoon I had the “Old Faithful Cut” steak with mashed potatoes and a ceasar salad. Its a 10 ounce prime rib steak. Oh it was so good. Better have been for $25! lol…It was a tossup between the smaller Geyser Cut steak or the 8 ounce hamburger! lol….Either way the Grill was pricey for one person but very good.

I think tomorrow I will go back there and try the Alaska Salmon! Sounds good eh? So now im sitting here drinking a Coke and looking out the window. The room lights are off and the tv is on quiet. I am relaxed and enjoying the quiet time to myself. I got my robe on after a nice cool shower and laying here with my netbook. I really couldnt ask for anything better at the moment. Tomorrow is a new day with new exciting things to see. I am already overwhelmed with anticipation.

That Darn Bear in Alaska!

13 04 2009
Originally posted on my Slipknot1.com blog but pasted it here so i didnt have to type it again. Im horrible because this should be my MAIN blog now…Shit….It Happens!

Riding from Cali to Alaska to who knows where….

So I left home from Malibu on my R1150RS for Seattle. Stayed the night there and then headed to Vancouver for a quick stop then made my way up to Juneau Alaska. Possibly a trip west to Anchorage if weather permits. It was a cold day out here but not too bad. Tonight it will be in the 20s and was in the 40s today.

I dont know where to go next honestly. I thought of hitting up the NWT of Canada for possibly Inuvik just as Neil Peart did but not sure if the Dempster Highway would be safe at this time of year. I would have to research and find out I guess. This is the closest in the Americas I have been to the Arctic Circle. Maybe not that close but close enough.

So im just south of Juneau near Petersburg when I stop for a quick piss break and down a small can of tuna and some water when a fucking bear starts grunting! Holy FUCK! He was a good distance but I started making noises and hopped on the bike FAST and rode off! Scary shit but I was able to piss and eat fast! lol

Made it into Juneau and got a cozy room at this small hotel. Dinner was steak with a glass of wine.
