Sooo, you wanna know about The Grylls…

Ok I am 33 years old. Houston/Sugar Land TX is considered my hometown….I LOVE comedy, music, books, traveling and computers. Oh and my huge passion right now is motorcycles. As a matter of fact, BMW R1150 RS is my toy. (yes thats a cropped pic of it as my avatar folks)

I live, breathe and work in music. From performing to recording and touring. Since 1998 I have been a minion to the artists many of you jam to at home, in your car or on your Ipod. One of the people responsible for what you hear on CDs and live in concert. I love my work and hate when people talk shit about the crew. Without us you wouldnt have concerts to attend. Its not as glamorous as many think and many wouldnt last a day in the job. As far as being a rockstar…well, its not as glamorous as it seems either. The money and women are great but in this business you have no privacy and its constant press almost everyday; all fucking day…..Just ask James Root…

Sooooooo lets see, although I work in heavy metal I mostly listen to stuff from Ottmar Liebert and classical like Chopin, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Mendholson….etc….Many of you know I play guitar and drums. My all-time guitar idol is Edward Van Halen. When I was 7 I started learning VH songs and my first was Panama and then Jump. My teacher taught me eddie’s two handed tapping techniques and since then I was hooked. Since then my influences have been: Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett, Y Malmsteen, Ry Cooder, Robert Johnson and BB King.

I also am a drummer. My drumming idol and main influence is Neil Peart of RUSH. I also like Rikki Rockett, Terry Bozzio, Peter Criss, Mr Portnoy himself!!! My friend Victor which none of you know was like a bro to me. He purchased a Neil Peart 30th Anniversary Drum Kit with money he had saved up and some his father left him when he died. The kit is valued at $30,000 and is made to Neil’s exact specs as if it were being delivered to him personally. Last year Victor died and left me this kit. The kit is one of only 30 made and authorized by Neil Peart. I have the certificate signed by Neil and all 30 pairs of RUSH sticks that came with it. I havent touched one pair of the sticks yet. They are all still sealed. I use Neil’s Pro-Mark 747 sticks when I jam. I have a few pairs of new and some used Neil Peart sticks used on tour. NEVER to be played by myself, just collect.
